Back in the Groove - And a Question...

We returned on Sunday from a wonderful, albeit wet and cold, weekend in Atlanta. My husband arranged for our closest friends to meet us there so that we could explore the city together and celebrate my 30th birthday. I cannot remember a better birthday in my life, except maybe the year I got my 10 speed bike.

Despite the pouring rain, we managed to do a few tourist attractions, but more importantly we got to spend time with some of the most wonderful people we've met along the way. Having friends that would travel that far just to spend a few days with you is more amazing than you could ever imagine.

The food in Atlanta was great and I didn't worry once about my weight - well, until we got home, that is. I thought I had gained a few pounds, but by today it only showed a gain of 1, so I'm glad about that.

I'm hoping that we go back sometime soon because the city was amazing. I want to do more shopping and walking around since the rain dampened (ha ha) our plans to do so.

On the way out of town on Friday, the local radio station was polling women with the craziest questions, and there was one I wanted to ask of my (few) readers:

Would you make a friend fat for life if it meant that you would always be skinny?

Ponder and discuss...(otherwise known as "I love comments")

I didn't even have to think about my answer to your question. The answer is NO. I would not make one of my friends miserable, ashamed, tired, and sad just so I could be thin. I'm not saying all overweight people feel that way, but it's how I feel. I mean, sure, who wouldn't want an automatic easy "skinny" card? I guess I am a glutton for punishment, huh? Plus, you do learn some things about yourself on this journey, and I can stand to learn a lot more about myself. ;)

I'm so glad you guys had a great trip, Leah. You certainly deserved a break!

XOXO

I have to agree with Amber. My thoughts are that I love my friends and don't want to see my friends "fat" knowing that increased abdominal fat increases the risk of so many diseases. I hurt when I see my friends struggle with physical ailments.

Amazingly enough, people actually answered that they would do it. I was blown away at the answers some women gave and their vanity.

Those people who answered yes, were not friends, because friends are not jealous of each other! Geez, I am glad I don't have "friends" like that!
I'd take your last handful of pounds anyday, Leah. I just would B*itch & moan about them to you!!!

Of course not....how horrible are those women who called in and said that they would do it!?!?! Now if I could give it to an enemy....haha no just kidding! I know how I feel, being overweight, and I couldn't even do that to someone I don't care about, let alone someone I love!!

Ps. I'm so glad you had such a fantastic birthday weekend - you deserve it!! I just wish we could have come to celebrate with you!
